I love Moses. He has nearly 700,000 people following him and he constantly takes the burden of the people back on himself. Shortly after leading them across the Red Sea, Jethro comes to him and tells him to break the people into groups so they’re more manageable. Later down the road, he whines to the Lord (see yesterday’s post on Leadership) and he has to re-delegate leadership – even more importantly, he delegates the “spirit that’s upon him,” giving the people the mantle of authority they needed to lead as well. When it happened, two of the 72 began to prophesy – and a young hot-head warned Moses. His response is amazing – “Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets, that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!”
Are you delegating what you’ve been given or is it weighing heavy on you?
